Uruguay has received approval to export beef, including boneless and bone-in cuts, as well as offal, to the Philippines. This follows inspections of 22 Uruguayan slaughterhouses and a boning establishment by Philippine authorities. The country, with a population of nearly 118 million, is the twentieth largest global importer of beef. Uruguay's Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP) is hopeful for similar authorization for sheep meat exports. The market is now open for private sector to operate. Additionally, Uruguay has received approval to export bovine stomachs to Chile, adding to the list of new markets for its products.
