Uruguay took a new step to advance trade relations with India

This was stated to EFE by Uruguayan Vice-Chancellor Nicolás Albertoni, after speaking during a meeting held in Montevideo with Jaideep Mazumdar, Secretary of the East of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India. “It was a very positive meeting, which marks another link in the rapprochement between the two countries. We have enormous complementarity,” he stressed. In this regard, Albertoni recalled that Uruguay and India have a bilateral investment agreement and that they are currently in talks to give it “a new boost.” In addition, he emphasized that these two countries have a significant commercial flow. In fact, bilateral trade between the two last year was about 400 million dollars. On the other hand, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs explained that tariff access is a conversation that is not on the table at this time, although he did point out that there were talks on health access.
