The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has approved HB4®️ Wheat, a drought-resistant strain developed in Argentina, for cultivation in the United States. The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) confirmed that the genetically modified wheat does not pose a risk to conventional wheat or the environment. This approval allows for the cultivation of HB4®️ Wheat and its progeny across the U.S. without restrictions. The wheat, which has already been approved for consumption in seven countries, including Australia, Colombia, and New Zealand, is also under field trials in Australia. The U.S. is the fourth country to fully authorize the production and marketing of HB4®️ Wheat after Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay.
