U.S. corn and wheat exports have disappointedly fallen below analysts' expectations, with wheat hits reaching a marketing-year low for 2024/25. According to the Department of Agriculture's latest report, corn sales for 2024/25 totaled 535,100 metric tons, missing the forecast of 600,000 tons to 1.3 million tons. Wheat sales for both 2024/25 and 2025/26 totaled 168,900 tons, significantly lower than the anticipated 225,000 to 600,000 tons. Soybean sales for 2024/25 were relatively on target at 1.57 million tons. China led in soybean purchases, while Chile, the Philippines, and Japan were the main wheat buyers, and Colombia and Mexico led corn purchases. Despite these developments, CBOT grain futures show mixed results pre-market.
