For the year 2025, Russia's total allowable catch (TAC) for pollock is projected to be significantly higher than the United States' at 2.46 million tons compared to 1.58 million tons. In 2024, Russia's total catch in the Far Eastern Fisheries Basin increased by 2% to 1,998,300 tons, with pollock making up 41% of this total. The Sea of Okhotsk and the Kuril Islands were particularly rich in pollock, with catches of 1,041,000 tons and 258,000 tons respectively. The Russian Pollock Fishermen's Association anticipates that the United States will continue to lag behind Russia in pollock production in 2025, with a predicted 7% increase in Russia's TAC and a slightly smaller 5% increase in the United States' TAC from the previous year.
