A recent report by the Agricultural Affairs Office of the American Embassy in Cairo anticipates a rise in Egypt's fresh orange exports to around 1.5 million metric tons in the current year, up from 1.37 million the previous year, due to high production and favorable weather conditions. The primary importers of Egyptian oranges are Saudi Arabia, Russia, the Netherlands, China, and the United Arab Emirates, with exports also reaching new markets like New Zealand, Japan, and Brazil. The report also notes a 4% increase in domestic consumption due to the pandemic. The Central Administration of Plant Quarantine at the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation has announced the start of the orange export season. Egypt has been the world's leading orange exporter over the past five years, with a total of 7.76 million tons.
