Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a new law, SF 2391, which prohibits misleading labeling of imitation meat and egg products. The law, effective from July 1st, requires plant-based and imitation meat and egg products to be labeled with terms such as "fake", "lab-grown", "meat-free", "imitation", or "vegan". This legislation is designed to prevent companies from misleading consumers by ensuring that products labeled as chicken, beef, or pork are actually derived from animals.
