USA: Iowa bans misleading labeling of foods as meat

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed into law SF 2391, a bill that prohibits misleading labeling of imitation meat and egg products. The bill imposes certain labeling requirements on plant-based and imitation meat and egg products sold in Iowa. From July 1st, the label of these products must contain words such as “fake”, “lab-grown”, “meat-free”, “imitation” or “vegan”.
