The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has worsened its forecast for wheat harvest in Ukraine for the upcoming 2025/26 agricultural year, according to the USDA's July report. According to experts, wheat harvest in Ukraine will be 22 million tons, which is approximately 1 million tons less compared to the ministry's June estimate, Agroportal.ua reports. Looking towards 2025/26, wheat exports are predicted to increase for both the European Union (EU) and Russia, while Ukraine's exports are forecast to be slightly lower. Specifically, the EU is expected to have a much larger harvest, with the main exporter France anticipated to see a production recovery. Additionally, the EU introduced trade policies limiting the amount of wheat Ukraine can export to its market. This will push Ukraine to compete with the EU for increased exports to other markets.
