On August 16, 2024, the Obour market saw stable vegetable prices with slight increases in retail markets. The price per kilo for tomatoes ranged from 9 to 13 pounds, onions from 4 to 9 pounds, zucchini from 12 to 22 pounds, carrots from 7 to 10 pounds, beans from 25 to 31 pounds, local eggplant from 4 to 7 pounds, and peppers from 5 to 9 pounds. Other vegetables and fruits such as local cucumbers, lemons, taro, molokhia, garlic, and okra also had specified price ranges. The Egyptian state is supporting farmers by providing soft loans, expanding agricultural greenhouses, simplifying licensing procedures, and offering services to mitigate the effects of climate change on crops.
