The Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI) and the Department of Animal Health are collaborating to ensure new regulations do not affect trade, while also protecting human, animal, and plant health. They plan to pilot an electronic quarantine certification system to streamline customs clearance, initially for New Zealand dairy products. The MPI will offer technical support, training, and information sharing on animal disease management. They also plan to establish commercial agreements and a physical inspection program for honey and deer meat by the end of 2024, opening up these products for export to the Vietnamese market.
