In a recent three-month period, a notable increase in chili exports from a specific country was observed, with 3,141 tonnes of chili being exported, generating US$8.1 million. This marks a 17.6% rise in volume and a 52.8% surge in value compared to the previous year, with the average export price of chili climbing by 28% to US$2,610 per tonne. The majority of these exports were to China and Laos, which together accounted for nearly 96% of the total volume. This growth in export price and volume is largely due to heightened demand in markets such as China and the Republic of Korea. The previous year saw the country earning US$20 million from exporting 10,173 tonnes of chili, indicating a 107% increase from 2022.
