Vietnam has experienced a 52% increase in tuna exports to Canada in the first two months of 2022, compared to the same period in 2021, rebounding from a decline due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Canada is the second largest tuna import market for Vietnam, accounting for nearly 5% of the total tuna export value. The country exports mainly frozen tuna meat/loin (HS0304) to Canada, which is its largest market for this product. Despite Thailand currently holding a larger market share, Vietnam's share is increasing. The trade agreement does not offer many tax incentives for Vietnamese tuna products in the Canadian market, but it has no export quotas and offers easy market access to the US. Tuna exports are mainly from Khanh Hoa province, with the price per ton reaching a nearly 10-year high.
