In the second quarter of 2024, Vietnam witnessed a notable increase in the export value of pangasius to China and Hong Kong, with a 6.5% rise from the same period in 2023, reaching 146 million US dollars. These markets continue to be the largest consumers, contributing to 28% of the total export value. June 2024 saw the highest exports to date, with over 56 million US dollars. Consumers in these markets, especially in Hong Kong, prefer frozen pangasius fillets. Despite a decrease in the export value of frozen pangasius fillets to China and Hong Kong by 17% in the first half of 2024, other pangasius products experienced an 11% increase in export value. The average export price of Vietnamese pangasius to China fell by 7%-18% compared to the same period in 2023, but the export volume grew by 34%. The top five companies exporting the most pangasius to China include Truong Giang, Dai Thanh, Nam Viet, Hung Ca 6, and IDI Corp.
