The Netherlands is the largest consumer of Vietnamese pangasius in the EU, with exports valued at over 2 million USD, a 74% increase from the previous period. Despite a slight decrease of 1% in August 2024, pangasius exports to the Netherlands are expected to grow again. Germany is the second largest consumer, with imports increasing by 183% in the first half of August 2024 compared to the same period in 2023. Belgium and Spain are the third and fourth largest consumers, with exports to Belgium increasing by 10% and to Spain by 15%. Despite fluctuations, the export value of frozen fillets, the main pangasius product exported to the EU, decreased by 2% in the first seven months of the year. Despite challenges, the pangasius exports to the EU are expected to increase in the second half of the year due to factors such as stable European economy, low unemployment, and stabilizing market prices and consumption.
