Wando County in South Jeolla Province has been selected as the host location for the 14th Sea Afforestation Day commemorative event, which will be held in 2026. Wando County hosted the 2nd Sea Afforestation Day commemorative event in 2014, and will now hold the event again after 12 years. Since 2024, Wando County has been working with the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency's South Sea Office and Hyosung Group to create a 1.59 km² complex sea forest of seaweed and sea grass (Zalphi) in the waters of Sinji-myeon.
