Wando seaweed recognized by NASA

Wando County Governor Shin Woo-cheol, the largest seaweed producer in Korea, recently visited the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), an agency under the U.S. Department of Energy. According to Wando County, the visit to the U.S. was to promote the excellence of seaweed as global interest in seaweed as a health food, future food, and blue carbon grows, and to discuss seaweed blue carbon certification and research with NASA and ARPA-E officials. In 2021, NASA released satellite photos of seaweed farms in Wando, which became a hot topic when it mentioned that it has the optimal conditions for seaweed farming due to its warm temperature and gentle tidal range, and that it is eco-friendly.
