In 2022, Hungary experienced a weaker plum harvest compared to the previous year due to drought. The country exported between 1.4 and 3.5 thousand tons of fresh plums in the last three years, with Romania being the main destination. The import of fresh plums to Hungary is not significant, with only 268.6 tons arriving in the country in the first six months of 2022, a decrease of 32 percent compared to the previous year. The average producer price of domestic plums on the Budapest Wholesale Market in the 29th week was HUF 400/kilogram, which is a 5 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
