Domestic flower farmers have urged a comprehensive strengthening of the quarantine system as indiscriminate flower imports are exacerbating the difficulties faced by agricultural workers. The Korea Flower Producers Cooperative Council held a roundtable discussion on 'Efficient Flower Import Quarantine' at the aT Flower Industry Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul on the 28th of last month. At the meeting, flower producer organizations and officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service gathered to develop improvements in flower import quarantine. The flower producer organizations pointed out numerous loopholes in the current quarantine system based on their field inspection activities and proposed that the government should move in the direction suggested by flower farmers.
