Ukraine is experiencing a crisis in melon crop cultivation this year due to halved cultivation areas and infrastructure destruction from the Russian occupation. The lack of transportation across the Dnipro and adaptation challenges in new regions have led to increased costs and decreased yields. This, in turn, is expected to result in a significant decrease in supply and a potential drop in prices for watermelons and melons this season. However, the situation also presents opportunities for profitable melon farming in regions near large cities due to climate changes favorable for melon crops. Despite the challenges, Ukraine is on track to achieve a record watermelon harvest of 239.2 thousand tons this year.
