The Paraguayan ambassador to Taiwan, Carlos Fleitas, has predicted a 15-20% rise in Paraguay's beef exports to Taiwan in the coming year, making the country the leading supplier of red meat to Taiwan, surpassing Australia and New Zealand. In 2022, Paraguay exported over 37,000 tons of beef to Taiwan, up from 6,000 tons in 2016. However, the cost of freight has increased significantly, potentially limiting sales growth. Fleitas also noted that China's refusal to import Paraguayan meat is a violation of World Trade Organization rules and an example of China's authoritarian trade practices.
