The article highlights the ongoing challenge of African Swine Fever (ASF) in Russia, with the disease spreading across several regions and causing a significant decrease in pork production. The human factor and the spread of the virus through wild boars have been identified as key contributors to the epidemic. Despite the financial investments and control measures, the disease continues to affect both domestic pigs and wild boars, leading to a sustained increase in pork prices. In response, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture has implemented measures to mitigate the rise in feed costs and support affected companies. Overall, the epidemic has led to a positive but minimal growth in pork production, with Russia producing an estimated 5.5 million tons of pork in live weight in 2021.
