Window for planting follows the rainy season

The arrival of the rains signals that it is time to ensure the germination and development of forage seeds. Selection of the forage, essential management in the first grazing, and proper soil preparation are steps that the rural producer must follow, according to experts from Embrapa (Campo Grande-MS). For the selection of grass, factors such as climate and soil characteristics of the property, animal requirements, the purpose of the pasture (grazing, hay, silage, or standing hay), and the desired production intensity cannot be disregarded. The adaptation of the plant to the characteristics of the region is determinant for both the initial vigor and the longevity of the pasture. The animal nutritionist from the state-owned company Haroldo Pires de Queiroz suggests the Embrapa Pasto Certo app as a tool for this phase.
