Wine imports to Russia decreased by 574.7 thousand tons, or 1.5 times, from January to October 2024, compared to the same period last year, according to Maxim Chmora, the head of the Main Directorate of Federal Customs Revenues and Tariff Regulation of the Federal Customs Service of Russia. The largest wine suppliers to Russia were Italy, Georgia, Spain, Portugal, and France. However, the share of Georgian wines in imports to Russia increased from 17% to 25%. Russian wine exports increased by 20% compared to the previous year, with China being the main importer. The Russian Wine Forum, the largest annual wine event in Russia, was held during this period, focusing on the role of wine in the Russian economy and culture.
