The OECD-FAO forecast for 2024-2033 predicts global sugar consumption will rise to 198.3 million tons by 2033, up from 177.9 million tons in 2024. Sugar cane will remain the primary source of production, with Brazil leading due to increased investment and expanded cane areas. India and Thailand will enhance production through improved productivity, while South Africa's output will grow with government support. Europe will continue to be the main sugar beet producer, with production increases expected only in Russia. Egypt is set to become Africa's largest sugar beet producer by 2033.
