EU wheat production for the 2023/24 marketing year is projected to increase by 3.5% to 129.5 million tonnes, up from 125.1 million tonnes in the previous year, despite potential drought risks in France and Spain. However, soft wheat exports are expected to decrease by 100,000 tonnes to 30 million tonnes due to reduced flows from Bulgaria and Romania, although this may be revised due to the drought situation in North Africa. The forecast for barley has been slightly reduced to 52.1 million tonnes, while maize production is expected to remain unchanged at 63.4 million tonnes, marking a 24% increase from the previous year.
