Sesame seed is best stored unshelled, in dry conditions, protected from rain and vermin (particularly rats and mice). They are packed in export quality mesh bags of 50 kgs. It is made sure that the bagged seeds (whether shelled or unshelled) are not be placed directly on a

concrete floor due to the risk of dampness that may cause mould to develop.

Before bagging, the pods are dusted with Actellic Super to protect them from storage pest. It takes 7 to 10 working days for the order to be ready once it is confirmed. The company prefers sea freight through the Port of Lagos

Description
The average annual production is 500 to 1000 tonnes and the main harvest for the product starts from the month of December. The production method uses both conventional and organic method of cultivation. Sesame is characterized by a slow growth rate in the first 30 days while the root is growing faster than

the leaves and stems. The germination of sesame is done in the soil which has a temperature of 70ºF at planting depth. During the germination stage, rain can create a crust in the soil over the sesame. If the seed is located inside the crust, there is no hope for the emergence and the sesame should be replanted. If the seeds are germinating below the crust, there is a possibility that the crust will crack and allow for emergence. The stage ends when the seedlings

emerge. Physiological maturity normally occurs 90 - 110 days after the planting and normally dries down in 130 - 160 days, depending on variety and climatic condition. Sesame is usually mature for harvesting between 90 and 130 days after planting (DAP). Harvesting is done when many leaves have dropped off.

Description
Sesame seeds are tiny, oil-rich seeds that grow in pods on the Sesamum Indicum plant. The seeds have many potential health benefits and have been used in folk medicine for thousands of years. They may protect against heart disease, diabetes and arthritis. Some studies suggest that regularly eating sesame seeds may help decrease high cholesterol and triglycerides — which are risk factors for heart disease. Sesame seeds are a good source of certain B vitamins, which are distributed both in the hull and seed.
