The strawberry is a popular fruit globally and is one of the most exported by large producers like China and the United States. In Peru, strawberry cultivation is still developing, with approximately 4,000 hectares dedicated to it. Despite challenges in 2022, strawberry shipments in Peru have rebounded in 2023, with a 30% growth in volume and 17% growth in value. However, there are issues such as the use of unattractive varieties and lack of coordination in the value chain. In terms of international dynamics, Peruvian strawberry shipments to the United States decreased, while shipments to Canada, Guatemala, Japan, and South Korea increased. However, prices have generally fallen due to increased supply.
