In May, supply from Spain and Italy will gradually arrive on the market with limited quantities and high prices. The demand for melons is forecasted to be good, with a stable and adequate supply for the upcoming weeks.
In Egypt, the price of melon stood at USD 0.19-0.29/kg (EGP 6-9/kg). On the other hand, in Italy, the production of Silican netted melons started with the entry of good quantities and high quality to the market. The price of Sicilian mini melons stood at USD 1.08-1.29/kg (EUR 1-1.20 /kg). In the Spanish market, yellow melons priced at an average of USD 0.43/kg (EUR 0.40/kg), cantaloupe stood at USD 0.65/kg (EUR 0.60/kg), and Galia melons averaged USD 0.48/kg (EUR 0.45/kg). Lastly, the early melon season in Uzbekistan started in May, and the price stood at USD 1/kg.
