The Georgian program "Plant the Future" has established 1.5 thousand hectares of blueberry gardens in Samegrelo with a funding of USD 10.4 million. The program has created over 2.5 thousand hectares of blueberry orchards in total, attracting an investment of USD 15.8 million. Blueberry cultivation in Georgia is supported by other state programs, including preferential loans. The country expects a future blueberry harvest of 20-25 thousand tons, offering export opportunities and significant income. Blueberry prices in Georgia are decreasing as the peak harvest season approaches. The average wholesale price of blueberries is currently around USD 4-5/kg, and it is expected to further decline to USD 2-3/kg in the upcoming weeks. Lastly, Italian blueberries are prevailing in the market, with a significant presence of domestic produce. Prices have remained relatively stable compared to two weeks ago. The presence of Italian blueberries has provided an alternative to Chilean blueberries, which were previously priced at over USD 32.95/kg (EUR 30/kg) and can now be found as low as USD 19.77/kg (EUR 18/kg). Prices for Italian blueberries range from USD 8.79-17.56/kg (EUR 8-16/kg) across various cities, including Padova, Rome, Florence, Bergamo, and Bologna.
