In W28 in the plum and prune landscape, the Italian plum supply in the domestic market was on the rise, but the demand remained focused on other seasonal products. This situation resulted in a decline in plum prices. Various plum varieties are available, with the Sorriso di Primavera cultivar nearly finished, making way for the Goccia d'oro variety. Additionally, there are several other varieties, including Black and Red plums, known for their good quality. However, despite the variety and quality, the current market trend is negatively affecting the prices of Italian plums.

Plum farmers in the Kashmir region in India have been facing significant losses in 2023 due to the hail storms and heavy rains that occurred in Mar-23 and Apr-23. The adverse weather conditions during the early spring season had a detrimental impact on the plum produce, resulting in injured fruits. As a consequence of the damage, market prices for plums were also adversely affected. Plum growers from the Mamgund village in the Budgam district, expressed their concerns about the situation, stating that the fruit injuries caused by the hailstorm have been a recurring issue over the past two years. Due to the extent of the damage, plum growers were unable to sell their fruits in 2023, and the market conditions were unfavorable.
