Apple prices were at USD 1.49 per kg in early January 2022, up +28.98% YoY from last year. The significant increase in apple prices throughout 2021 was due to the high domestic consumption. Bangladesh, which has not been able to produce apples in large quantities, relies heavily on China to meet its domestic demand. The import value of apples from China to Bangladesh reached USD 183.1M in 2020. Apples are quite popular in Bangladesh, this triggers imports to get stronger from year to year.
