The wholesale price of dried chickpeas in Pakistan jumped 70.82%YoY to 1.02 USD/KG when entering W3 December 2021. The price increase of dried chickpeas also occurred in the US by 16% to 6.39 USD/KG in W3 December 2021. Poor harvests in Pakistan due to drought reduce supply which led to increased imports. This becomes a good opportunity for suppliers to enter the Pakistani market due to high domestic demand. However, there may be a competition where more affordable prices will be more attractive to the market.
