Fresh Tomatoes Wholesale Price in Russia Pushed High Due to Inflation and Import Ban

The wholesale price of fresh tomatoes in Russia skyrocketed to USD 2.78/kg in W2 of July-22, a 171.46% YoY increase, compared to USD 1.02/kg. Inflation pressure is still high despite lower figures for June-22 when annual inflation was 15.90%. Import ban on Azerbaijan tomatoes because of quarantine pest negatively affected supply given that Azerbaijan was a number one supplier to the Russian market.
