Peanut Prices in India Surged by 21.96% YoY Due to Subpar Harvest

In W50, the wholesale price of Indian peanut kernel surged by 21.96% YoY due to declined production in Anantapur and Puttaparthi caused by erratic monsoon conditions and severe droughts. As a response, the Indian government provided free seeds and fertilizers to small and marginal farmers to expand peanut cultivation in the FY 2023/24.
