Paraguay: Researchers seek to quantify yield losses due to nematodes

In order to evaluate and quantify the damage according to each species of nematode and agricultural crop, experts in Paraguay in Nematology seek to promote research projects. Horacio López Nicora, one of the researchers, commented that an interdisciplinary team of professionals was formed to obtain the data that can easily answer the questions about the identification of adequate management and possible techniques to reduce the populations of nematodes. He also noted that this process is necessary to identify the phytoparasites that cause damage and allows progress towards more complex questions, which involves the evaluation of genetic material for different populations of nematodes.
