Japan has increased its import of Russian grain to a record, by almost 510%

Japan's Ministry of Finance has published statistics showing that the country's imports of grains from Russia in the first six months of 2023 increased by almost 510% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, for other product categories for the period January - June 2023, in annual terms, a significant decline was recorded in the volume of purchases: vegetables - by 56.7%, fruits - by 96.8%, fish and fish products - by 23.4%. It is also specified that last month, Japanese imports of Russian grains grew by 445.2% at once compared to June 2022. Meanwhile, as RIA Novosti informs, the Government of Japan condemned Russia for its decision not to renew its participation in the grain deal and "placed full responsibility" on Moscow "for any negative consequences for food security in the world."
