Tanzania is among world’s leading exporter of Pigeon Peas and Africa’s second largest Pigeon Pea exporting over 138,809 MT of Pigeon Pea annually. The country mainly exports to India, and South Africa. We’re well-established in the key production region, such as the Lake Zone area, the Northern Corridor of Tanzania (Arusha, Manyara and Dodoma Regions) and the Southern region, Lindi, Mtwara.
Pigeon peas harvest in Tanzania begins in the first week of August for the southern region (Mtwara and Lindi), then the central zone (Dodoma and Singida) picks up in the middle of August before its peak season in September after being joined by the Northern region (Arusha and Manyara) towards the end of August.
Tridge’s Pigeon Peas are sustainably sourced from over smallholder farmers in the Lake Zone, the Northern Highlands Zone and Southern parts of Tanzania. They are freshly harvested and processed under the guidelines of good post-harvest practices to assure supply of top-quality Pigeon Pea and maximum Food Safety. The production process includes sourcing and quality inspection of the Pigeon Peas, drying, grading, sorting, cleaning and Packaging.
