John's father, Phil Hinds, took over the farm in the early 1980s and continues to run it today. John's grandfather purchased Beech Farm in the 1960s. They primarily have beef cattle and occasionally horses, and they cultivate a small amount of corn for the winter ration. Beech Farm covers 180 acres total.
A calf rearing unit and a coarse fishing lake are two additional farm businesses. The fishing lake is a relatively recent project that dates back to 2004.
