Anti-fraud authorities in Burkina Faso have dismantled a network of fraudsters who were counterfeiting rice by repackaging local rice in fake bags labeled 'imported rice' to sell at a higher price. The counterfeiters used the brand name 'Lizo', a knock-off of the original 'Liza' brand from Myanmar. The scam also involved repackaging rice meant for school canteens, which is not meant for sale. Authorities seized a total of 46,550 kg of rice, with the estimated value of the confiscated goods being 47 million CFA francs.
