In 2023, the white-coated pork sector in Spain has shifted its focus towards social, environmental values, and food safety, creating more economic, social, and environmental value. Despite a slight decrease in pig livestock and meat production, the sector remains resilient and competitive, with a strong commitment to productive efficiency, sustainability, biosecurity, and animal welfare. The sector's exports surpassed 9 billion euros for the first time, indicating an increase in value despite a slight reduction in volume. The pork sector continues to be a crucial part of the Spanish agri-food system trade balance.
