The Federal Documentation and Advice Center on Wolf (DBBW) has reported a significant increase in wolf-related damage to livestock in Germany, with the number of wolf packs, pairs, and individuals rising and the number of killed farm animals reaching 3,959 in 2020, a nearly twofold increase from 2018. The most affected animals were sheep, with 3,444 killed in 2020. The German Farmers' Association criticizes the DBBW's reporting practices and warns that the rising wolf population is putting grazing activities in Germany at risk, potentially making it unsustainable.
