Mangos are tropical fruit that requires hot and humid weather for growth. Mango trees don't do well in colder weather. Its farming conditions make it ideal for farming in Egypt because of its short and mild winters. Ismailia is the governorate most famous for its mango production, but it is still farmed heavily in upper Egypt.
There are more than 30 varieties grown in Egypt, with the most popular varieties being (Local) the Zebdya, Mabrouka, Sideeka, Awees, (Export) Keitt, Kent, Tommy, and Naomi. Arab customers prefer Zebdya (sour used for juicing), Naomi, Tymor, and Awees, while the EU and Russia prefer Keitt, Kent, and Naomi. Preferred sizes for the export market are over 300 grams.
