Japan and China are one of the top 5 Importers of Ethiopia's Sesame export

Ethiopia is among the top 20 producers of the oilseed in Africa. Among the destinations, Japan and China are one of the top 5 Importers of Ethiopia's Sesame export. Despite the high oilseed production, Ethiopia's import of edible oil has been growing, with more than 95% of supply covered through imports. Out of the total edible oil demand in 2017/18, only 72% was met.
