In Vietnam, the prices of onions, ginger, and garlic are rising sharply due to the coronavirus. These vegetables are mainly imported into Vietnam from China, and currently, supply from China has been stagnating, which has significantly decreased the supply in Vietnam. In addition, many people are buying garlic and ginger - considered as an immune system boosting foods - to cook meals, which is further contributing to the price increase. Compared to before Tet Holiday, the prices of onion, garlic, and ginger have increased by about VND 0.86 - 1.29 / kg.
