Since 2018, Egypt is the largest global exporter by volume of fresh oranges. The industry has had significant growth over the last 5 years when there was a government effort to improve on-farm irrigation and productivity. In the last MY 2020/21, exported volume was 1.5 MT with a 9.4% increase from the previous MY 2019/2020. Orange production in Egypt had a 6.25% increase from the previous season to reach 3.4 million MT. The harvested area reached 145,000 hectares, a 3.57% increase from the previous season. The total volume of Egypt’s exports of oranges by the end of MY 2020/21 amounted to 1.5 MT with a value of USD 648.6 million.
