Turkey has seen a 13% increase in fresh fruit and vegetable exports, reaching $3.82 billion in 2021, due to strategic advantages from increased freight costs and container shortages. The country's most significant exports were citrus fruits, with Mersin, Hatay, and Adana being the leading provinces. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, there is a growing emphasis on safe, quality, sustainable, and innovative agricultural products, especially traceability from farm to table. President Nejdat Sin emphasized the need for strengthening logistics infrastructure, reducing pesticide use, and optimizing railway use for export to target markets. Mandarin, tomato, and lemon were the top exports, with the Russian Federation being the primary market.
