Peru: $13.5 million allocated for coffee and cocoa project without deforestation

The Project “Deforestation-free value chains in the Peruvian Amazon” (FOLUR Project), led by the Ministry of the Environment (Minam) with the support of the GEF Project, will benefit around 120,000 deforestation-free coffee and cocoa producers in 17 provinces of Amazonas, Cajamarca, Loreto and San Martín. This intervention seeks to introduce sustainable coffee and cocoa production models to reduce deforestation and degradation in the northwestern Amazon of Peru. In this way, the development of local economies is encouraged, taking advantage of our natural resources in a sustainable way. For this purpose, there will be an investment of $13,561,467.
