In 2021, Muğla, a city in Turkey, exported 147 thousand tons of greenhouse-produced fruits and vegetables, earning an income of $166 million. The city's agriculture sector, which covers 18% of the region's surface area, saw a trend towards large-scale capital investment, particularly in greenhouse tomato cultivation. The majority of the exports were tomatoes, but other fruits like lemons and oranges were also exported to countries such as Russia, Ukraine, and Romania. The demand for Turkish agricultural products in Europe and the Arab countries continues to increase, with Fethiye alone exporting 97 thousand 108 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables.
