The Polish State Plant Protection and Seed Inspection (PIORiN) has reported a surge in wine production, as indicated by a rise in grapevine inspections. In 2024, 226 inspections were conducted across 222 vineyards, covering a total area of 294.2 hectares. The majority of these inspections were done in the southern and south-eastern regions of Poland. The inspections aim to ensure compliance with the National Support Center for Agriculture's vineyard register, focusing on the accuracy of vineyard details such as location, variety, and area. Additionally, the inspection ensured compliance with legal requirements for new vineyards, including the origin of propagation material and the need for a plant passport. No prohibited grape varieties were found in the inspected vineyards, highlighting the importance of oversight in fostering Poland's wine industry.
