Gyeongbuk Province, South Korea, has reported a 24.8% increase in local agri-food exports for the first 10 months of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019, totaling $53.96 million. The exports were driven by grapes, dried persimmons, laver, beverages, and kimchi. Indonesia and China were the main importers, showing the largest increases in exports to these countries. Despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, Gyeongbuk agri-food exports surpassed $500 million for the first time in 2017 and have continued to grow. The region plans to boost awareness and competitiveness of its agri-food products through strategies such as utilizing overseas permanent antenna shops and identifying 'star items' for export.
